Studio West is thrilled to announce their involvement in leading the Michoud Innovation Corridor project alongside U3 Advisors as part of the newly announced New Orleans East Innovation District, a major initiative focused on preparing the area for new industries, investment, and jobs.
The project builds upon New Orleans East’s longstanding history of manufacturing and innovation. Home to NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility, where some of the largest components of America’s rockets are built, including the core stage of the Space Launch System for the Artemis program. Its industrial legacy dates back to Higgins Industries, which became a leading producer of boats used throughout World War II.
The Michoud Innovation Corridor brings together NASA’s Michoud campus, the Port of New Orleans, and the surrounding riverfront, building on these existing assets to support advanced manufacturing, shipping, food production, and future circular economy initiatives. For Studio West, the project represents an incredible opportunity to contribute to the continued evolution of a place with such a notable history of making and innovation, while helping create meaningful economic opportunities for the surrounding community.
Beyond the City of New Orleans, GNO Inc., and U3 Advisors, the initiative, publicly announced by Mayor Helena Moreno in July, also includes Louisiana Economic Development (LED), landscape architecture firm SCAPE, Marais Consultants, as well as Wingate Engineers.
